That is some pretty heavy duty stuff! I had not heard of ICLEI - I will check into that further. The Agenda 21 information also - I have heard that 'name' I dont even know where and I sure didn't know what it was…"
"John, very interesting information, thanks for the links. I have heard bits and pieces on this but the vids/links help bring it into focus and why it is of concern. What is worrisome is the idea that control/use of lands by the state,…"
"Hi Walter -
I understand what you are saying about the two models. I was thinking on a mini-scale back home in the midwest there were people (before peak oil was even talked about in the general stream of things) who grew gardens and beef as…"
"Hello everyone! I am seeking inspiration for some perspiration today. I am whipped - 24 hours, precisely of our first ever attempt at 'birthing chicks' with no chick mama. Made a number of mistakes despite obsessing over…"
"Angela - Thanks! I recall seeing something like that my first few visits to the site looking for events, gatherings, activities - now that I am thinking along the lines of sharing/swapping (since Heather brought it up :-) I will go…"
"Sharing skills and resources is something I would like to see a topic/blog/forum for. Maybe something like a classifieds?? For example, I am a highly skilled massage therapist/body worker. My practice in Iowa was called 4 Aspects…"
"In response to Heather and do-ing type groups/topics, I would love to connect with some people who have been dreaming of adding some solar panels to their house either to supplement the usual electric/propane or to replace the need for one or…"
I would be interested in sharing our land for garden space/anything harvested from same. We missed the planting season as we moved in not long ago and there is *no* garden where we live but we are on nearly 9 acres (also pasture,…"
"What Laura said below made a lot of sense to me, personally - there is incredibly valuable info on the website - so much one could spend all their time online which limits the face to face - I really like the idea of *everything* being posted to the…"
"The face to face meetings sound good and if 'minutes' were taken to summarize, maybe a list of who was there so they could be contacted if someone who was not there wanted more details, etc., to keep the minutes from being to daunting of a…"
"One last thought - trying to be part of the solution and not the problem (long posts that may not be helpful :-P
If there is no way to archive the old and everyone still have access to it visibly and easily, then, worst case…"
Not yet involved...discovered link through collapsnet website.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
Concern for environment, esp. Whatcom County, in particular water safety, breast cancer stats being high, chemtrails, etc.
Sustainability - seeking to buy a mini farm for organic food growing, chickens, a few other livestock animals.
Economic/Real Estate Concerns = need to move off the grid increasingly...looking for some support and guidance other than just via the internet.
Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
I have a lot of talents and interests along these lines, lots of research, well informed, seeking land to purchase in the area. My husband who is from Vancouver BC and is First Nations, practicing traditional spiritual/medicine ways; youth/family counselor, manager for Lummi Nation. We have two teen sons - so a handful of good minds, strong spirits, open hearts, and reasonably strong backs as my husband would say. Problem solving.
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?
Whatcom Cty - Mt. Baker area (Sand Rd/Mt Baker Hwy area
Where did you hear about Transition Whatcom and how did you find our community network website?
directory on collapsenet site. I have a lot of respect for M. Rupert - not to say I see eye to eye on all things he says but I have tremendous respect for his courage, desire to educate others, and to some extent altruistic motives which have cost him a great deal in his life. I can relate. He's a true compassionate warrior and I keep up with information he presents as other alt. news.

Hi Neighbor! Great to have you post your questions on a specific EarthGardens discussion! Then we can all be part of taking turns answering & sharing our knowledge in a way that is visable & helpful to many!
I know the internet & social networking site can be broad & deep and not always easy to navigate...but its amazing how many of us locals are here and listening.
I often use the personal comment page to share info with one individual, so that my response doesn't get emailed out to hundreds of folks....I'll send you seperate message so we can exchange phone numbers privately, as I don't post mine of the web....I'm out for a walk soon!
Hi Erin, thanks for the message. It would be great to see you there tomorrow!! Should be a pretty fun class. Either way, I'll be teaching lots of classes here in Bellingham at the start of the new year on herbs, natural medicine, shamanism, and all sorts of other things. Welcome to town!! I hope this finds you well.
