The headline says it all:
Actually, we were up a lot of cows year over year, so the extreme culling (25% increase over last year's rate in Texas and New Mexico) puts the national dairy herd roughly back where it was a year ago. Hamburger is headed down short term and back up as we move in to winter and next spring.
