Hello CSA Farmers!

1.    I have an orchard with quite a few fruit & nut trees.  I am looking for a local CSA that would like to buy fruit from me or trade for shares.

(Orcas Pears, 4 varieties of plums, Gravenstein apples, King apples, figs and 4 varieties of hazelnuts.)

2.    I have an acre+ available for a CSA to rent for farming.  All day sun, fantastic location on the north side of B'ham Bay, west of the airport.

Please contact me!

An Invitation to participate: in Citizen Involved Agriculture: C.I.A.

Are you a gardener with questions about gardening? Do you enjoy learning by doing hands-on work along side someone who is knowledgeable rather than using a book?

Consider the C.I.A.: Citizen Involved Agriculture at Inspiration Farm. We are designing this project to give newish gardeners and farmers some hands-on experience working with a knowledgeable farmer - Brian Kerkvliet - at his farm just north of Bellingham. In addition to what you learn directly from working at the farm, there will be time to ask your specific gardening questions. And as crops become ready to harvest, participants will get a share of it.

There is no charge for participating in this project. But we would like a group of people who are enthusiastic and can commit to coming to most of the weekly work sessions from March through September. That's just one 2.5 hour work session per week. (It's possible to make special arrangements for those who are serious about participating but can't make all the weekly sessions.) For our farmer, it is best to have a group of motivated workers whom he can rely on to show up at the scheduled time and give some good energy to the farm.

New local CSA farm--Neighborhood Harvest!

Neighborhood Harvest grows a variety of vegetables and herbs in Bellingham, Washington. We are a multi-plot farm, currently composed of three garden plots that together culminate to more than an acre of diversified vegetables and herbs. Our largest plot is a leased acre on Rural Ave where we grow the bulk of our mixed vegetables. In addition we maintain two urban plots. Our garden on Henry Street in the Columbia neighborhood houses a seed germination house and accommodates annual vegetable crops. Perennial culinary herbs are grown in our garden on Logan Street in the Broadway Park neighborhood. We are committed to raising high-quality produce and maintain sustainable farming practices. http://neighborhoodharvest.csasignup.com

Delete Comment Hey food security people, I have held off as a lot of you were busy with planting and then harvest...I assume things may have slowed a bit by now. I would like to start planning a Whatcom Food Security Summit for January or February. My goals at least, would be to get these food security efforts, groups, organizations, etc. together to assess the current situation, and see where there needs to be more support and where there may be complete gaps. Any of you interested in being on a planning team for this?

Bellingham Urban Garden Syndicates Shares. A urban food and education based CSA program, we are offering Shares on a sliding scale ($50- and up). Shares will include bi-monthly pick up of grown and gleaning produce from BUGS gardens. People purchasing shares will be directly helping the sustainability of this program, as we implement and grow gardens in your community. Members will also have free access to our Urban Farmer education series, a resource for those wishing to learn the finer points of responsible stewardship. BUGS gardens now totals 9 urban lots (almost 1.5 acres), as well as a series of fruit trees that we are stewarding.
Please contact Nick Spring at nick@bellinghamurbangardens.org or at (360)610-3700, if you have any questions or would like to purchase a share. Thanks for helping grow the garden community!
