On Thursday, April 18, at 9am PT, Midday ET, 5pm BST we will be partnering with the Transition Network to bring you a web chat featuring Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone. The host and moderator for the event will be Rob Hopkins. If you have questions for the speakers please put them as a comment below or tweet them to Rob at @robintransition. Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone are the co-authors of Active Hope – How to Face the Mess We’re in Without Going Crazy.? Here’s how Joanna and Chris frame the web chat:
“Climate change, the depletion of oil, economic upheaval and mass extinction together create a planetary emergency of overwhelming proportions. Joanna and Chris’s book Active Hope is about how to strengthen our capacity to face this crisis so that we can respond with unexpected resilience and creative power. Drawing on decades of teaching an empowerment approach known as the Work That Reconnects, they guide us through a transformational process informed by mythic journeys, modern psychology, spirituality and holistic science. This process equips us with tools to face the mess we’re in and play our role in the collective transition, or Great Turning, to a life sustaining society”.
Comment by Patricia Herlevi on April 15, 2013 at 6:05pm I totally agree with you J. C. and with the Law of Attraction you get more of what you focus on, so if we want to see a peaceful and harmonious world, it's better to visualize that scenario, rather than watching the media rehash dark events.
Consequently, trying to search for meaning in these events isn't healthy either. Things happen in the world that are beyond our understanding. Stay centered in your heart, express compassion and know that it isn't selfish to distract yourself with the things that bring you joy. For anyone following the Abraham/Hicks teachings, this is finding joy will ultimately bring joy and peace to the world.
Celebrate Earth Day with NSEA!
Join us at our work party on Landingstrip Creek
April 20th from 9:00am - 12:00pm
Help NSEA, the Whatcom Conservation District and Whatcom Land Trust as we work to plant hundreds of native trees and shrubs along the bank of this South Fork Nooksack River tributary located in Acme. We will be giving away FREE t-shirts to the first 200 volunteers and REI will be raffling off a tent to one lucky volunteer! Take a trip to the mountains and do your part for Earth Day and wild salmon! From Bellingham, head east on WA-542 E/Mt. Baker Highway for about 15 miles. Turn right onto Highway 9, just outside Deming, and follow for about 7 miles. Turn right on Turkington Rd. Parking is available at Acme Elementary School. Look for NSEA signs and shuttle. Gloves, tools and refreshments will be provided!
Comment by warren miller on March 16, 2013 at 3:05pm Please let the TWOG know if you are interested in helping schedule a showing of "Occupy Love " at the Pickford in April. It's world wide release is on April 11th and we are looking for someone from the Heart and Soul group to help plan and schedule the showing and invite some co-sponsors from other organizations. You can find out about the movie and get some info on how to host a screening here: http://occupylove.org/screenings/host/
Thanx,
Your TWOG

Comment by Cyndy Sheldon on January 3, 2012 at 6:06pm I will be teaching a class on transformation and consciousness in February, called GESTALT AS A WAY OF LIFE. It will be 5 Monday evenings at my home. I keep the class small so we can get to know one another as we learn some fun and exciting new ways of living more fully. If you are interested you can contact me at cyndy.sheldon@comcast.net or at 656 6207 and I'll send you a flyer and answer any questions you might have. Special discounts. The class is also listed in the Whatcom Folk School Winter Program.
