Their land is being bought up by giant Agribusinesses that are planting it with Monsanto's aluminum resistant seed (that will germinate despite the alkalinization of the soil being caused by all the aluminum oxide being sprayed on us via chemtrails.

On September 15th I showed the documentary Film "Why in the World Are They Spraying?" at the Connections Bldg of the downtown Bellingham Food Coop. I also gave a talk about Natural Detoxification, so people could learn how to protect themselves from the very toxic levels of aluminum oxide, barium, strontium, arsenic, iron, zinc, and other chemicals as well as antibiotic resistant bacteria being sprayed on us from aircraft.

Please watch both of these well made documentary films about chemtrails:

Everyone in Transition Whatcom must become aware of "Global Dimming" because due to the amount of aluminum oxide and other aerosols being sprayed on us, we're not receiving nearly as much sunlight as we were. This not only adversely impacts gardening, but it puts all of us at far greater risk of developing Alzheimer's disease, cancer, asthma, upper repiratory tract infections, mental illness, and other serious illnesses.

I am looking for courageous people to help me organize a "BELLINGHAM CHEMTRAIL AWARENESS DAY" patterned after this one held a year ago in Mt.Shasta CA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2vNwv4nylU

Please call me to help with this at 1-800-333-2553 H&W or email me at jham@iahf.com

We will have no Food Security if we don't address this massive threat because if we don't stop this, our heirloom seeds won't germinate unless we grow only in greenhouses!

As I understand it there is no hatchery in Washington let alone Whatcom Co. hers is just one farm and I know of quite a few others. I’m wondering if there is interest in developing such a business in this area.

I suspect I could be 100% easily, if only I could make the decision to give up chocolate, chips, Coconut Bliss, and other snacking pleasures. So download the list, put it on your fridge for inspiration and motivation, and start penciling in your additions.

Whatcom County in Washington has been hit especially hard, with losses to community gardens and several organic farms estimated at hundreds of thousands of dollars. Those affected think the source of the contamination was cow manure used to produce local composts.

Hi folks,

re: planning for a food security summit, I've been working with a small group to plan the formation of a food network in Whatcom County, to work toward all of us being coordinated in some way. We plan to pull together all the organizations and groups that are working on or within the food system in April or May.

Here's the details:

What do we hope to accomplish by establishing the Whatcom Food Network?

Purpose…

Hi folks,

re: planning for a food security summit, I've been working with a small group to plan the formation of a food network in Whatcom County, to work toward all of us being coordinated in some way. We plan to pull together all the organizations and groups that are working on or within the food system in April or May.

Here's the details:

What do we hope to accomplish by establishing the Whatcom Food Network?

Purpose Statement (draft)
The Whatcom Food Network is working to build common understanding and facilitate collaborative efforts toward a healthy and equitable food system for all.

Actions to Guide the Work of the Network

Identify overlaps and collaborate on opportunities to build community capacity toward a healthy and equitable food system for all.

Gain a collective understanding of system-wide barriers and gaps.

Identify potential partnerships and opportunities to leverage resources.

Long Term Overarching Functions

Increase communication among food system-related organizations, agencies, and institutions.

Facilitate collective work toward mutual goals (This last one is place holder for the longer-term and action-based work that might come of having a Network).

Hopefully it is clear from the above Network outline that the purpose is to coordinate and find common ground.

We have had lots of discussions about community engagement events that might map a common vision for food security, or create actions and plans, but we feel strongly that the first step must be to bring together the groups that are already working on food system issues to agree to be coordinated in our efforts.

I am particularly excited about your efforts to do some "plant the seed" events because that is exactly what is needed for the general public education, and to work toward a community food security summit that will engage the most people. Yay!

At our last Network planning meeting we discussed the potential overlap between what the Transition food security group is planning and the Network Launch event.

We would like to invite a few of you planning the food security event to join us in planning this Network launch. The next meeting is 10:30 am - 12 noon on Wednesday, February 2 at the WSU Whatcom Extension office on Forest Street. Please let me know if you want to join us. We will set the date, plan the agenda and logistics of the Network launch event, and prepare a save the date notice.

Please contact me if you are interested in joining us! I will not post my personal information here, but you can start by contacting me on this site or at work: 360-647-7093, x 106.

We hope to unify our efforts and to work together!

with gratitude,

Hi all;

I just wanted to be sure that you all know that there is a very large and thriving Food security network that has been evolving in the Greater Vancouver BC region. I was at the standing room only out into the hall session about it at the 2008 Metro Vancouver sustainability summit. and again at the Gaining ground summits. - which are held each year.

There may be some info to be gleaned from, and to share with their various groups based on what individual groups have learned over the years, Since we are all in this together, ( I can see BC mountains from here, and they can see Mt. Baker ) It just seems to make sense.

If you already have this in motion, that's great! If not, IF Whomever among you is at the helm here would like a warm intro to some of their key players just let me know.

I am all over the map with sustainability as a connector of people and groups and while I don't consider myself in expert at any single one, I do have a hugely diverse network of BC contacts.

Food Security Event Planning Meeting

Present: Kate Clark, Teresa Fritsch, Linda Fels, Laura Sellens, Heather Katahdn, Tris Shirley

Agenda: open. Discussion to decide if we should hold a Food Security Summit, and if so, when.

Discussion Points:

-Summit would allow all relevant organizations to get together, acknowledge what’s being done/areas of overlap, foster collaborations and brainstorming, identify gaps in Whatcom Co. food system. Questions for participants: ”What are you doing? What do you need?”

-ex. An idea from Fred Berman that family scale cold storage and larger scale food preservation/storage methods would be useful.

-a big goal of this meeting would be to bring awareness of energy decline. Recent Food Security summit did not acknowledge this. Focus is still on food production/access/security/justice, but not on how those things will be affected by limited fossil fuels

-TW members not “qualified” to hold these discussions. We’re not food professionals. Perhaps a better place to start would be researching and meeting with groups individually

-complex topic! Lots going on, perhaps more than one day to find out. Pressure to make the first summit event useful or people wouldn’t return for a second, third, etc even though it’s probably unreasonable to expect solutions in one day.

-In Russia allotments are being provided, on government owned land. Here we have a lot of private land. Discussed Urban Garden Share website, which links potential gardeners with landowners with available plots. This is an example of a project we could do or simply help promote, to close gaps in the food system. http://www.urbangardenshare.org/whatcom/gardens

-Farmers with national and international markets may not want to hear about/think about peak oil. However most people are attuned to gasoline prices. Present info from economic perspective.

-For EDAP, we could start with mapping and land use. Some figures were presented @ Lynden Faire

-the Natural Step program is simple and helps businesses to be more sustainable. Successful model.

Goals of Food Security Group:

1. Awareness raising on energy decline and its impact on our food systems

2. Planning, especially EDAP (energy descent action plan)

3. Projects that increase local food resilience

-Identifying gaps in present food system progresses goals #2&3

-Rather than jump in with a Food Security Summit, we could start with research and awareness raisings with relevant organizations. We could use these smaller meetings to see what would make the summit useful to them and get “buy-in.” Depending on feedback received, perhaps a reasonable time would be January 2012.

Next Steps:

-Kate will revamp awareness raising presentations. Tris and Laura will help deliver presentations.

-Linda will find out if discussion posts on the ning site can be ordered most recent first. Based on this Laura will start a blog or a discussion, and post the notes.

-Heather will bring attention to urban garden share website within the Seed Swap organizers.

-Linda will find out what research has already been done in Whatcom Co and will contribute to Food Chapter of EDAP

-Laura will find out more about the BALLE Food Leakage Calculator that is available

No next meeting. To communicate online until we have need of a meeting or start awareness raising meetings.
