Krista, Yes the one in Kingston. Yes it is limited to 6 participants.

Brian and I are going to see if we can get Alexander to do a workshop at Inspiration Farm, either before or after the one in Kingston. We'll post it here as soon as we know.

Apparently it is not an easy thing for Alexander to get all his scything gear across the boarder into the U.S. so it would be wonderful if we could add a workshop in our area in addition to the one in Kingston.

I have registered for the one in Kingston and will probably do both if he also ends up doing one here.

MacLeods: which scything workshop? The one in kingston? I am very interested but it looks like he teaches pretty small groups. I bet we could rally 6 people up here to have him teach a workshop in Bellingham.

Scythe workshop: There is a workshop on scything with a master at a really incredible price...... in case any of you who are into scything what to increase your skills. Good for newbies too.  Go to the website and check it out. I plan to go to get fine tuning on my rudimentary peening and swinging skills.....

Anyone have a patch of comfrey I can steal some plants from? We want to plant a bunch of patches around fruit trees and for our ducks. Seems like a silly thing to pay money for since so many people have more comfrey than they want. 224-4757

Tree Planting.

Saturday March 31st we will be beginning our reforestation program at Camp Brotherhood.  We are looking for volunteers that will help us plant 400 trees in one day.  Our ultimate goal is to plant over 2000 trees.  We will begin at 9 a.m. and will provide lunch at 12:00.  Please RSVP by Tuesday the 27th so we can order food.  You can make a difference.

Molly, I have been picking people's brains about raising pigs, since we may or may not this year on our farm. What people tell me is that feeding them is the most time and money intensive part of pig raising, most ended up driving to several farms and/or grocery stores every day to pick up leftover produce. We have been researching planting fodder crops (such as turnips, beets, rutabegas, kale, etc) and if you have enough space and moveable or electric fencing, you could let those crops grow and then run the pigs through them. Pigs LOVE to dig up roots and eat them. Also... author Joel Salatin writes a lot about raising pigs and using them for many farming tasks (ie: turning compost, sealing ponds) so I would recommend his books-- some of them available at our county library system.

Calling all tree huggers!  I work for a non-profit and we are purchasing 400 seedlings for reforestation.  Our ultimate goal is to plant some 2000 trees.  Saturday, March 31st we will be having a tree planting party.  If you would be willing to help please contact me at MarkT@campbrotherhood.org We will be starting at 9am and lunch will be provided for those that RSVP by March 27th
