I love the idea, too, Chris. And have a suggestion - why don't we use the 'Discussion Forum' for each of these study groups? Each study or project group could form a 'Discussion' and communicate to each other and all of us that way. Another topic might be keeping us all informed of speakers/workshops that are or could be available to us to attend, read, or inspire to come to Whatcom County, etc....

I love the idea Chris!
As a fin person, I am up for researching the self directed IRAs, as well as other topics, including group facilitation/communication tools.

Thanks for the great meeting last night, all you wonderful people!! Here is a thought I am having today-- maybe it would be cool for us to have some "Study groups" on different community-related topics. For example, a few of us might want to study Self-Directed IRA's (investing your retirement $ in land) and report back to the larger group what we learn. Others may want to research communication tools for groups... or land use/zoning/building code issues for Bellingham and Whatcom County... or different community structures that work... etc. People could participate in a study group they are passionate about (or not) and all of us would benefit from all the knowledge! I'll bring it up at our potluck in 2 weeks at Travis's house.

In case anyone on this list is interested: there are about 6 properties for sale right on my road (which is a no outlet road) - Wheeler Rd, where Bodhi Creek Farm and Singing Water Sanctuary are located. There are four 20-acre parcels and two 5-acre parcels, all with varying conditions as far as buildings, infrastructure, etc. Please contact me if you want more info: 599-2134 or alan@bodhicreek.org

My Thursday course was cancelled so it looks like I am free to show up for the meeting. 5PM at the Old Foundry?
Comment by Chris Wolf on May 25, 2010 at 8:52pm
Last meeting was at the Old Foundry, on the corner of Cornwall & Maple, so I am planning to show up there at 5:00 this Thurs unless I hear otherwise. If it is locked I guess we can all walk up to a coffee shop to talk. I'm excited to talk more with you all! Cooperative homestead living is all I think about these days!
