SUMMARY:The Story of Plastic - Meaningful Movies Project
DESCRIPTION:THE STORY OF PLASTIC is a searing exposé revealing the u
gly truth behind plastic pollution and the false solution of plastic r
ecycling. Different from every other plastic documentary you’ve seen
, this film presents a cohesive timeline of how we got to our current
global plastic pollution crisis and how the oil and gas industry has s
uccessfully manipulated the narrative around it. From the extraction o
f fossil fuels and plastic disposal to the global resistance fighting
back, THE STORY OF PLASTIC is a life-changing, Emmy-winning film dep
icting one of the world’s most pressing environmental issues.\r\nPan
elists for the Earth Day, April 22, Meaningful Movies Event:\r\nLindse

of the people, governments, and corporations, and structural barriers
to ecological democracy. He now works as Policy and Partnerships Mana
ger for Firelands Workers Action/Acción de Trabajadores, doing multir
acial working class organizing in Washington’s rural timber counties
to fight for a just, green economy. He also serves on the Port Angele

invited to explore how they are feeling in these times of crisis, and
with the support of the circle to connect to their deepest self and e
merge with a new understanding about their path forward. Bridgid is
a retired  counselor and educator, who has had a mindfulness practic
e for over 25 years and who has worked extensively to support social e
motional learning in schools.\r\nHeather Trim is the Executive Direct
or for Zero Waste Washington where she works to reduce upstream source
s of waste, get toxic chemicals out of products, reduce plastic pollut
ion through the organization’s signature producer responsibility pol
icy initiatives. Previously, she worked with Futurewise  to prevent r
unoff from entering our waterways, improve shoreline management practi
ces and policies and address a range of issues from community sustaina
bility, habitats, and climate change; and with People for Puget Sound
where she focused on protections for the marine environment.\r\nREGIST
