Event Description

Panelists have been selected to provide several unique perspectives on the topic and will include:

  • Laura Skelton – Executive Director, Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility
  • Rebecca Ponzio – Oil Campaign Director, Washington Environmental Council
  • Steve Garey – United Steel Workers Local 12-591 (which represents workers at the local Shell, Tesoro and Phillips 66 refineries)
  • Moderator:  Matt Krogh –ForestEthics Extreme Oil Campaign Director

These speakers will give short presentations followed by discussion and questions from the audience.

Your questions regarding emergency response times, safety of schools and housing, potential harm to rivers and farms, prevention of tanker explosions and more will be addressed.

 This event is part of a national week of action commemorating the 47 people who lost their lives on July 6 2013 in an oil train explosion in Lac-Megantic. We continue to we face the threat of a similar accident.
