What we have planned for these first three" Sunday Singing Sessions" is a combination of fun and easy to sing circle songs and co-created vocally improvised explorations. Our goal is to help people feel safe to let their voices open up, if even just a little bit. Our goal is also to guide the flow of each session so that people feel like they are contributing while they are learning and exploring and having fun. The first part of each singing session will be dedicated to welcoming, intention, & warm-ups. We will then begin exploring 2-3 circle songs that will get our voices connecting. From there, we will guide the group in some vocal improv explorations with the intention to co-create music that feels really good. We will then move towards closing and honoring the power and presence of our collective experience. Our ongoing goal is to create a flourishing, sustainable, and community active singing ensemble called the Inspire Choir that would meet and practice regularly and share that magic out in the community at benefits, markets, gatherings, deaths, births, concerts, festivals, sacred spots, and especially in places that could use some good vocal lov'in! If that resonates with you, we look forward to welcoming you on Sunday...

I've been really wanting to sing/sound more. I'm curious what you have planned for this. I'm drawn to harmonizing with sounds and less interested in words/lyrics. I don't have a lot of experience singing nor a great singing voice but I have a really good 'ear'. My favorite choir experience was at Fairhaven College in the early '80s when the Dean at the time was Phil Ager who directed our 12 O'clock community choir. I absolutely loved singing the wide range of styles he selected....from madrigals to hymns to gospel to jazz....Singing with a large group of people, some of whom were quite skilled and many of us with a range of different skill levels was great. There were enough 'good' singers that the rest of us could train ourselves to. The emphasis was on fun and togetherness.

In a different vein, I also love singing as a way to shift consciousness, connect with reverence and create a sacred space, even as a form of prayer or healing.

I hope to be there this Sunday.
