Event Description

Operation hours are the First Wednesday of each month from 6 PM to 9 PM and the First Sunday of each month from 3 PM to 6 PM

The Bellingham Repair Café is held at The Foundry (bellinghamfoundry.com). 1515 N. Forest Street, Bellingham.

The Bellingham Repair Café is a twice - a - month social event to which you can bring your broken items to have them repaired for free (unless certain parts are needed). Over 50% of consumer items can be given a second life with little effort preserving resources and expense and counteracting consumption, waste and "planned obsolescence". Don't have anything that needs fixing? Just stop by and watch and learn or socialize in a friendly atmosphere with a complimentary cup of tea or coffee and a pastry.

Bring your children

Recognizing the needs of (single) parents the Café is child friendly. There is a separate room with toys.

How do we make money?

We don't! We do what we do out of the conviction that it is necessary. And we have lots of fun! But we do have to eat. So for occasional salary payments and to cover our operating costs we rely on donations and on sponsors.

Facts:

In the past three decades, one-third of the planet’s resources, its ‘natural wealth,’ have been consumed. (millenniumassessment.org). Reusing and recycling are essential to secure our future.

For every one garbage can of waste you put out on the curb, 70 garbage cans of waste were made upstream to make the junk in that one garbage can you put out on the curb (worldwatch.org). Every item we can keep out of the landfill therefore will save resources far beyond what is contained in the broken item.

On average, every person in the US creates almost 5lb of waste every day.
