Event Description

Class Description:

We want to highlight Bokashi as a system to help people with the smallest of spaces to take that step towards a more sustainable lifestyle-the easiest way! Bokashi allows you to compost ALL your food scraps, without the odor, in 1/3 of the time. Finally a composting system that you don't need to turn, no watering, no hassle. Simply toss your scraps (MEAT and DAIRY TOO!) into a 5-gal bucket, sprinkle Bokashi (natural beneficial micro-organism compost accelerator), ferment for 2 weeks, bury and GROW. Perfect for amending soil as the fermented food waste locks in the moisture, aerates compacted soil, and boosts the nutrients AND beneficial microbes that keeps your soil and plants HAPPY year after year.

We will show how Bokashi works in your kitchen, garden and small space hands on by:
1) fermenting your food scraps together- bring food scraps to class!!!
2) applying finished Bokashi Compost to planters, orchards, and garden beds
3) mixing up a batch of Bokashi Bran to take home with you

Bio: We teach at permaculture courses and schools. We taught the Bokashi class this Spring at Chuckanut Center too!

All Ages welcome
