Event Description

The state legislative delegation for the 42nd Legislative District, which includes North Bellingham, Ferndale and most of Whatcom County, will be holding a town hall meeting on March 16 at Ferndale High School to hear from constituents.
This is a great opportunity to attend and ask questions about upcoming legislation, communicate concerns, and encourage our representatives to support environmentally friendly legislative priorities. Important environmental priorities this session include:

  • Clean Energy Solutions - a package of legislation that will expand access to renewable energy, increase energy efficiency of buildings and products in Washington state and explore options to meet our greenhouse gas reduction goals.
  • Conservation Works - dedicated funding in the state budget to create good-paying jobs while restoring and improving the health of our air, water and forests.
  • Defend Toxics and Renewable Energy Achievements - in addition to moving forward on environmental goals, it's important to remind legislators to keep our past achievements strong, including the I-937 renewable energy standards for utilities and the Model Toxics Control Act.
  • The House Transportation Committee has passed three bills -- House Bills 1898, 1953, and 1959 -- that give communities the flexibility to raise revenue to save bus service and fix local streets and sidewalks.
